German car giant Mercedes-Benz has sold all its sales centers in Berlin to Canadian businessman Kuldip Billana, head of Alpha Auto Group.
According to Bild, seven dealerships employing around 1,500 people are affected. The company plans to sell further locations in Hamburg, Munich and the Rhine-Ruhr region, risking up to 8,000 jobs.
Employees were informed via email and offered two options: leave with compensation or continue with a one-year job guarantee. The new owner's commitment to existing tariff obligations remains unclear.
