A security flaw in Instagram's Meta AI chatbot has put user accounts at risk.
According to Oxu.Az citing the BBC, the AI chatbot allowed unauthorized access to accounts through fake information.
Hackers used fake location data to change passwords and attempt to take over email addresses.
Meta spokesperson Andy Stone announced on X that the issue has been resolved and affected accounts secured.
Stone dismissed claims that world leaders' accounts were hacked through this flaw as false.
404 Media reported that the flaw coincided with a series of high-profile Instagram account takeovers, including a verified account previously used by former US President Barack Obama. The account briefly posted pro-Iran content before access was restored.
The exact number of compromised accounts has not been disclosed.
