Moldova's Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii has stated he will not step down despite opposition demands.
The opposition accuses the minister of being directly responsible for a series of suicides in the armed forces and the death of a minor due to negligent handling of a weapon.
Nosatii said at a briefing: "I will not resign until the investigation is complete. The minister does not bear direct responsibility for every soldier's actions."
Several politicians and parliamentary parties had called for his dismissal. However, the ruling party has reiterated its support for him.
