The lower house of Romania's parliament has automatically approved an initiative to unify with Moldova.
Since the bill was not debated within 45 days, it is considered adopted. It will now be sent to the Senate.
If approved, the Romanian government must immediately start negotiations with Chișinău.
Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi stated he supports unification.
