Myanmar authorities incinerated over 50 tons of seized narcotics in major cities, marking one of the largest drug destruction operations in the country's history.
According to AP, citing police sources, the burned drugs include heroin, opium, ketamine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, with an estimated street value of $600 million.
Yangon police reported that the value of destroyed drugs this year is double that of last year. In Yangon alone, narcotics worth $321 million were burned.
Earlier this year, Myanmar officials revealed that over the past five years, they had seized drugs worth $2.8 billion.
