The mayor of Nalchik, Russia, Taymuraz Akhovov, has died at the age of 55.

The administration of the Kabardino-Balkar leadership reported the news. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Akhovov had been serving as mayor since April 2018, leading the city for eight years.
