NATO is creating a new structure to quickly deploy troops in Latvia and Estonia in case of a military conflict with Russia.
Reuters reported this, citing two sources familiar with the alliance's plans.
The Germany-Netherlands Corps based in Münster will be involved in the defense of the Baltic states. In peacetime, the corps serves as a headquarters structure but will enable rapid and large-scale military buildup if necessary.
It is not yet known when the decision will take effect and how many troops will be under the new structure.
