The Nigerian army has freed 360 people abducted by the terrorist group Boko Haram in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria. The operation was reported by the Associated Press.
The rescue mission took place in the Mandara Mountains, a key militant stronghold. Among those freed were women and children from various villages in Borno.
Army spokesman Haruna Sani said two infants died due to harsh conditions and prolonged captivity. The remaining hostages were evacuated to safe areas for medical and humanitarian aid.
