Over 1.2 million people gathered around Madrid's Plaza de Cibeles to attend a mass led by Pope Leo XIV in Spain.
According to Oxu.Az, citing Reuters, the event was the largest of the pontiff's week-long visit to the country.
The Pope's trip from June 6 to 12 marks his first visit to an EU country outside Italy. It began on Saturday with meetings with migrants and the homeless, followed by a night vigil attended by some 600,000 young people.
Pope Leo XIV will also visit Barcelona and the Canary Islands, where he plans to meet migrants from West Africa who risk their lives crossing the sea.
During the mass, the Pope called on world leaders to stop dividing society and to treat every person with respect. After the service, private meetings with members of his order and representatives from show business and culture are scheduled.
