Following a magnitude 6 earthquake, more than 30 aftershocks have been recorded off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
The Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Unified Geophysical Service reported to TASS that a seismic event of magnitude 6 occurred at a depth of 41 km on the ocean floor. In the hours that followed, up to 30 earthquakes were observed.
Local residents felt only one tremor of up to magnitude 3. No tsunami warning was issued.
