Özgür Özel has been elected as the head of the parliamentary group of the Republican People's Party (CHP).
According to Oxu.Az citing "Haber Global", the decision was made at a closed meeting of deputies at CHP headquarters.
The meeting was chaired by Özgür Özel. He won the votes of 95 out of 96 deputies present.
One vote was deemed invalid. 15 parliamentary members who could not attend due to illness, funeral, or being abroad also expressed support for Özel.
It is worth recalling that an Ankara court annulled the results of the CHP's 38th congress held in 2023. According to the decision, party chairman Özgür Özel was removed from his post. Former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was temporarily reinstated until the final decision.
