Under a defense cooperation agreement, Pakistan has deployed 8,000 troops, air defense systems, and a squadron of fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.
According to Reuters, Islamabad provided the kingdom with 16 JF-17 Thunder fighters, two drone squadrons, and Chinese-made HQ-9 air defense systems.
All equipment is operated by Pakistani personnel, with costs covered by Riyadh. The deployment coincides with rising tensions around Iran.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a strategic defense pact in September 2025.
