Pakistan insists on China being a guarantor in any future agreement between Washington and Tehran, according to sources cited by Al Hadath TV.

Asim Munir, Pakistan's army chief and key mediator in US-Iran talks, is currently in Beijing. He is accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on a four-day official visit. Munir attended a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

On February 28, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF had struck Iran. US President Donald Trump confirmed US involvement.

Iran retaliated with dozens of ballistic missiles against Israel. On March 1, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reported dead.

Iran struck neighboring countries hosting US bases, temporarily closing their airspace. The Strait of Hormuz faced shipping disruptions.

On April 8, Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire hours before his ultimatum to Tehran expired. A first meeting was held in Islamabad, but the second meeting scheduled for April 22 did not take place.
