Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has made his first official statement on the parliamentary election results.
He declared that the Civil Contract Party will secure a majority in parliament and form the government.
Pashinyan stated that on June 7, the people defended peace and independence.
According to him, the election marked the defeat of a three-headed war party.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, the Civil Contract Party received 49.81% of the vote.
Other parties gained fewer votes: the "Strong Armenia" bloc 23.29%, the "Armenia" bloc 9.94%, and the "Prosperous Armenia" party 4%.
