A passenger on a US flight attempted to open the aircraft door at approximately 36,000 feet (11 km) and attacked another passenger. The incident occurred on a United Airlines flight from Newark to Guatemala.

The pilot requested an emergency landing, stating that a passenger was trying to open the door. The plane landed safely at Dallas airport.

The Boeing 737 Max 8, carrying 145 passengers and 6 crew, made an emergency landing just two hours into the planned five-hour flight. The suspect was detained by police and taken into custody.
