The Pentagon has added several Chinese companies to a list of entities linked to China's military.
Included are e-commerce giant Alibaba, search engine Baidu, EV maker BYD, and NIO. They are accused of cooperating with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Being on the list does not automatically impose sanctions, but bars these firms from contracting with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The move is seen as a warning signal to investors about potential future restrictions.
