South Korean singer Psy (Park Jae-sang) has been detained on suspicion of purchasing psychotropic drugs through third parties.
According to Seoul police, the "Gangnam Style" hitmaker is accused of obtaining prescription drugs via his manager and others between 2022 and 2025.
The prescriptions were issued during Psy's treatment at Seoul University Hospital. Police raided and arrested six people, including Psy, his manager, and the doctor who prescribed the drugs.
Under South Korean law, prescription drugs can only be purchased directly by the patient. Violators face up to one year in prison or a fine of 10 million won ($6,590).
