Putin and Trump held a 55-minute phone conversation discussing Ukraine, bilateral relations, and the international situation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation today.

Oxu.Az reports, citing TASS, that this was announced by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

According to him, the conversation lasted 55 minutes. Putin congratulated Trump on his 80th birthday.

During the talk, the leaders discussed bilateral relations and the international situation. Trump reiterated the importance of halting military operations in Ukraine.

Putin highly appreciated Trump's role in the process of returning Russian and Ukrainian children to their families through his wife Melania Trump.

The Russian president also wished Trump success in hosting the FIFA World Cup, noting Russia's achievements in this area in 2018.

During the conversation, Trump also noted that a US agreement with Iran is close and could be announced today.
