Romania has declared Russia's consul general in Constanța a persona non grata.
President Nicolae Ciucă announced the decision after a Supreme Council of National Defense meeting.
“Last night, a serious incident occurred in which two citizens were injured. Russia bears full responsibility. The consul general is declared persona non grata, and the consulate will be closed,” he said.
The incident happened on the night of May 29 in Galați, where a drone crashed into a building's roof, causing a fire. Two people were injured, and around 70 were evacuated. The prosecutor's office opened a criminal case. Russia's ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.
