Russia's "Rosatom" has successfully implemented the process of "burning" highly hazardous radioactive materials from spent nuclear fuel in a nuclear power plant (NPP) reactor for the first time in the world.

According to information cited by Oxu.Az from the "kp.ru" website, this new technology will help significantly increase the environmental safety of nuclear energy in the future.

The world's first pilot-industrial operation program has been completed at the BN-800 fast neutron reactor in the 4th power unit of the Beloyarsk NPP. Within the framework of the program, "minor actinides" - components with the highest radiotoxicity and longevity - were added to the uranium-plutonium fuel composition, and their "burning" process was carried out.

This technology represents a major advancement in the field of nuclear energy and creates new opportunities for managing radioactive waste. Rosatom is recognized internationally for this achievement.
