US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced significant progress in negotiations with Iran. He spoke at a joint press conference with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Rubio noted that over the past 48 hours, progress has been made with partners in the Persian Gulf region towards creating a framework plan. If successful, the plan would allow for the complete and toll-free opening of straits and address key factors behind Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions.
The Secretary emphasized the US preference for diplomatic solutions: "I think we may have achieved some progress. I believe that in the next few hours, the world might receive some good news."
