US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington received a message on May 31 via Lebanon indicating that the Shiite group Hezbollah is ready for a ceasefire with Israel.

Speaking at the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearings, Rubio said: "We received a message from the Lebanese government and the speaker of parliament on Sunday on behalf of Hezbollah. The message stated that if Israel does not launch new strikes on Beirut, they will refrain from attacking Israeli territory."

Rubio also clarified President Donald Trump's statement regarding contacts with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah representatives.

Earlier, the Axios portal reported that Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri informed the US side that Hezbollah is ready for a full and immediate ceasefire with Israel.
