U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated he will not run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028 if Vice President J.D. Vance enters the race.
According to Oxu.Az, citing AP sources close to Rubio, he has repeatedly expressed willingness to yield to Vance in conversations with advisors.
Meanwhile, Rubio has strengthened his position in the White House by appointing allies to key posts on the National Security Council in recent months.
President Donald Trump dodged a question about his presumed successor in a Fortune interview, while U.S. media often cites Rubio and Vance as top Republican candidates for 2028.
