The UK government has a secret bunker in London for the end of the world scenario. Known as "Pindar", it is located 60 meters below the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Whitehall.
Completed in 1992, the bunker has 400 beds reserved only for ministers, senior military officials, and civil servants. The Prime Minister has a separate area for his family.
Photographer David Moore was granted access for an art project and released photos of the interior. The bunker is in constant readiness, featuring a canteen and briefing rooms.
"Pindar" can become fully isolated within minutes, with its own ventilation system filtering out radioactive air. It cost £126.3 million and took 10 years to build.
The bunker is connected via secret tunnels to 10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office. In case of a nuclear strike, authorized personnel have only minutes to reach safety.
