Geoffrey Hinton: "Chatbots can be as conscious as us."
The Nobel Prize winner in Physics, known as the "godfather of AI," claims to have observed signs of self-awareness in machines.
In an interview with DR, Hinton stated: "Increasingly, you see that these chatbots can be as conscious as we are. But consciousness is not what we think."
The scientist emphasized that many people have misconceptions about consciousness and subjectively assess AI's ability to perceive it.
