The Bishkek District Court has announced sentences in the case of an attempted coup d'état involving high-ranking officials in Kyrgyzstan.
Oxu.Az reports citing Kommersant.
By court decision, former head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Kamchybek Tashiyev was sentenced to 4 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was also placed under probation supervision for 4 years.
Former Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev and former Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiyev were also sentenced to 4 years in prison. Five other individuals were found guilty of abuse of power and placed under probation supervision for 3 years.
Recall that in February, President Sadyr Japarov dismissed Kamchybek Tashiyev from the post of SCNS chairman. Shortly before his dismissal, Tashiyev was among 75 officials and public figures who signed a letter demanding early presidential elections.
