In 2025, bear attacks in Japan have claimed a record 13 lives. Despite efforts by rescue teams and hunters, the situation remains unchanged.
Recently, an "extremely smart bear" has emerged that cannot be caught. According to AFP, on June 2, a bear attacked four people at two factories in Fukushima and then hid inside a building.
The Fukushima administration says the animal has not been found. Mayor Yuki Baba noted that the predator opened a window to escape. Paw prints were found at the exit.
The bear is also suspected of turning on a water tap to drink. This is considered highly intelligent behavior.
Previously, several bears of anomalous size were captured in Japan. One weighed 330 kg, another 280 kg. Professor Yosikazu Sato suggests they may have fattened on corn before hibernation.
