Scientists have detected a giant sunspot group on the far side of the Sun. It is considered one of the most dangerous active regions in recent years.

The Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Space Research reported that these sunspots could trigger powerful explosions and mass ejections of solar plasma. This could lead to strong geomagnetic storms on Earth.

Monitoring is ongoing. The spots will rotate into view in about a week and face Earth directly a week later.

Experts note that the spots may disappear through explosions within 14 days. Accurate prediction is difficult.
