Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office has submitted a petition to the Central Election Commission (CEC) seeking consent to initiate criminal prosecution against former President Robert Kocharyan, leader of the opposition "Armenia" bloc.
According to a statement from the CEC, similar petitions have been filed against parliamentary candidates Asatur Kocharyan and Ruslan Barsegyan.
On June 14, Kocharyan's office announced plans for a three-day trip abroad. However, it later emerged that the former president was barred from leaving the country at Zvartnots airport.
Recall that in the June 7 parliamentary elections, the "Armenia" bloc became the third political force in parliament.
