A suspect who opened fire near the White House was neutralized. 21-year-old Nesir Best had prior detentions. Trump was inside the White House.

The US Secret Service neutralized a suspect who opened fire near the White House on May 23.

According to Oxu.Az, 21-year-old Nesir Best, a Maryland resident, was detained twice in 2025.

He was held for attempting to stop agents and making threats, and later for entering a protected area.

The New York Post reports he suffered from severe mental illness and believed he was Jesus Christ.

President Donald Trump was in the White House during the shooting; a bystander was injured.
