Nearly three million households in the UK are now skipping meals and reducing family gatherings to save money. The cost of living crisis continues to tighten its grip.

According to a new study by consumer group “Which?”, reported by LBC radio, 85% of British adults are seriously worried about food prices. Two-thirds of households have changed their eating habits.

To cope, 43% of people are buying cheaper food items, 37% opt for supermarket budget brands, and 31% look for discounted products. The situation hits low-income families the hardest.

Consumer confidence plummeted to -62% in April, the lowest level since 2022. Analysts warn the trend will worsen unless the government intervenes effectively.

Experts advise budgeting and meal planning to reduce waste. However, many say these measures are not enough as inflation outpaces wage growth.
