US President Donald Trump has advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conduct only targeted strikes in Lebanon. In an interview with the Axios portal, the White House head discussed the issue.

"I told Netanyahu he needs to make his operations more targeted. He cannot destroy buildings. It's very horrible and damages Israel's image," Trump said.

The US leader expressed his liking for Lebanon and its leadership. He also believes that after operations against Iran are completed, Lebanon can recover. "Iran devastated Lebanon. Their puppet Hezbollah ruined it. When Iran is defeated, Hezbollah will automatically be defeated," Trump added.

A US official told another publication that the Trump administration has asked Israel to show restraint and create conditions for a new diplomatic process with Lebanon. This call aims to reduce tensions in the region.
