US President Donald Trump announced that a deal with Iran has been signed and the Strait of Hormuz is partially open for shipping. He stated it will fully open on June 19.
According to Oxu.Az citing RBC, Trump made the announcement in Switzerland, where he attended the G7 summit.
"The deal is fully signed. The Strait of Hormuz is already partially open. Ships have started moving. It will fully open on Friday. We got along very well with Iran," Trump said.
The memorandum was signed electronically by Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. CNN and Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported this, citing US officials.
Trump confirmed the signing during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron but did not disclose details. The official signing ceremony will take place on June 19 in Geneva.
