US President Donald Trump announced he has called off a planned strike on Iran scheduled for May 19.
Oxu.Az reports that the US leader made the statement on his Truth Social platform.
Trump said that Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan asked him to postpone the planned strike against Iran.
According to the US President, these leaders believe that serious negotiations are currently underway with Tehran and that an agreement could be reached under which Iran would renounce nuclear weapons.
"This deal would be acceptable to the US, Middle Eastern countries, and states outside the region," Trump noted.
The US leader added that if a satisfactory agreement is not reached, the US will resume strikes against Iran.
