U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong message to Iran, stating that Washington will take control of Iran's highly enriched uranium regardless of the outcome of negotiations.

According to Oxu.Az, Trump said in an interview with NBC News: "We will take the uranium with them or without them. No one will shoot at us."

He added: "If we reach an agreement and relations are friendly, we will do it together. The equipment will be ours. We will either remove the uranium and destroy it on site or take it elsewhere."

Trump also indicated that a nuclear deal between the U.S. and Iran is very close: "We are very close to a deal. They have accepted that they will not have nuclear weapons."

The president noted that Iran's frozen assets will not be released immediately after a possible deal: "If they behave well and show good results, then we will start talking about it."
