US President Donald Trump has made a statement regarding possible military actions and the negotiation process with Iran.
According to Oxu.Az citing the Axios portal, Trump said that the US does not intend to kill the Iranian leadership.
The White House head stated that such a step would make future talks with Tehran impossible.
Trump noted that the US is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and that the country's leadership is currently attending a funeral. When asked about a possible strike against Iranian leadership, he replied, "We are not going to do that because then there would be no one to talk to."
The US President also claimed that the Iranian side is "begging for a peace deal" and expressed surprise at people crying at the funeral, saying "maybe these are fake tears."
Recall that Trump had previously announced a pause in negotiations with Iran due to the funeral of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
According to reports, the funeral began on July 3 in Tehran and is being attended by representatives from over 100 countries.
