US President Donald Trump intends to make a final decision on May 29 on whether to approve the preliminary agreement with Iran, following a meeting with his aides.
Trump announced this on his Truth Social platform, stating, "I will hold a meeting at the White House to make the final decision."
The US President noted that most provisions of the agreement with Iran have already been negotiated. Trump also declared that under the deal, Iran must permanently abandon nuclear weapons.
"Iran must agree that it will never possess a nuclear weapon or bomb," the American leader wrote. According to Trump, the potential deal with Iran includes the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz with no tolls for passage.
The agreement also entails lifting the naval blockade and clearing the Strait of Hormuz of mines. Trump added that the US has already detonated most of these mines, and Iran will promptly complete the clearance of the remaining few.
