Preparatory work for direct trade between Turkey and Armenia has been completed.
Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Öncü Keçeli stated that bureaucratic procedures for direct trade, initiated within the normalization process since 2022, were finalized by May 11, and technical activities for opening border gates are ongoing.
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ani Badalyan welcomed Turkey's decision to lift trade bans, calling it a significant step toward normalizing bilateral relations and boosting economic cooperation and regional peace.
Turkey emphasized its support for regional cooperation, seizing the historic opportunity in the South Caucasus.
