Turkmenistan has been awarded observer state status in the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by Turkmen media.

The status was presented to the Central Asian republic during the 15th session of the ICESCO General Conference held in Kazan, Russia.

ICESCO is a specialized intergovernmental organization operating under the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, comprising 53 countries.
