Severe tropical storm Jangmi struck southwestern Japan, leaving tens of thousands of homes without electricity.

According to ASN TV, over 30,000 homes in Kagoshima and another 17,000 in Okinawa lost power.

Japanese government spokesperson Minoru Kihara reported nine injuries in Okinawa.

All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines canceled approximately 600 flights scheduled from Monday to Wednesday (June 1-3).
