Typhoon Maysak has struck the southern coast of China's Hainan Island, causing severe damage. The storm brought strong winds and heavy rain, particularly affecting the Lingshui Li Autonomous County. Wind speeds reached up to 23 meters per second.
According to China Central Television, the typhoon is moving towards the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region after passing the island. Maysak is the first typhoon recorded in China in 2026.
Emergency services have issued warnings and safety measures are being implemented. The extent of the destruction is being assessed.
