Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, stated that the main reason for abnormal heat in Europe is the extensive use of fossil fuels like oil and gas, along with deforestation.
In France, temperatures reach 30-35°C, peaking at 39°C. Spain records over 30°C, with some areas hitting 37°C. Portugal issues yellow warnings as temperatures near 38°C.
The UK recorded a May record of 35.1°C, breaking the previous high of 32.8°C from 1922.
