The United Nations has warned that water demand in Asia will increase by more than 50% by 2030.
According to Oxu.Az, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua made the statement at a press conference in Dushanbe.
He emphasized that integrated approaches and strong international cooperation are crucial for efficient water resource management.
"According to forecasts, water demand in Asia alone will increase by 55% by 2030," he stressed.
The UN had previously highlighted the threat of a "global water crisis." The report states that about 3 billion people live in regions with declining or unstable water supplies. Additionally, over 30% of glacial mass has already been lost.
