The US plans to increase its armed forces personnel by 2027.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told RIA Novosti that the army currently has about 1.8 million troops and the number will be increased.

Hegseth noted that the recruitment plan for 2026 has been fully implemented and new drafts will continue.

To address personnel shortages, the age limit for service has also been raised in recent years.
