The US Department of Homeland Security has announced new rules for the Green Card process. Highly skilled professionals are no longer required to apply from outside the US.
According to Bloomberg, the department has stepped back from its initial strict stance. The previous rule required most immigrants to leave the US to apply.
The new statement emphasizes that this requirement will not apply to highly qualified applicants. However, some applicants will still need to begin the process through US embassies abroad.
Changes will not affect current permanent residents.
