US forces coordinated the safe passage of over 100 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz in May.
According to The New York Times, the strait remains dangerous as talks between the US and Iran have stalled.
Earlier, US Central Command reported assisting 70 ships, most of which turned off their transponders during transit.
