The US has been discussing the construction of three new military bases in Greenland with the Danish government for several months.
According to BBC, at least five meetings have taken place since mid-January.
The US delegation is led by State Department Counselor Michael Needham. The White House confirmed high-level contacts but declined to provide details, only stating that the discussions are proceeding positively.
Denmark's Foreign Ministry also confirmed the dialogue but refused to give further information.
The new facilities are planned for the southern part of the island. Their primary purpose is to monitor potential Chinese and Russian naval activities in the North Atlantic region. No final agreement has been reached yet, and the number of bases may change.
