The United States has reduced the number of brigade combat teams in Europe from four to three.
Oxu.Az reports that this was announced by US Department of Defense spokesperson Sean Parnell.
"The Department of Defense has reduced the number of brigade combat teams assigned to Europe from four to three. With this, we are returning our European presence to 2021 levels," he wrote on his X social network account.
Parnell emphasized that the decision was made after a multi-stage comprehensive analysis of the structure and deployment of US military forces in Europe. According to him, the transfer of US troops to Poland, considered a model ally, is temporarily postponed.
The Pentagon also stated that the final structure of forces deployed in Europe will be determined only after assessing US strategic and operational needs, as well as allies' ability to independently participate in the security of the continent.
