The US has initiated strikes on Iran after an Apache helicopter was shot down. CENTCOM confirms the operation as self-defense.

The United States has launched strikes against Iran in response to the downing of an Apache helicopter.

According to CENTCOM, the attack was ordered by the commander-in-chief and carried out in self-defense.

The strikes began at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (01:00 Baku time on June 10).

CENTCOM emphasized that the actions were "a proportionate response to Iran's unprovoked aggression."
