The US Administration has informally advised federal prosecutors in Miami, Florida, to refrain from investigating Delcy Rodriguez, who serves as acting president of Venezuela.
Oxu.Az reports that the Associated Press (AP) has released this information citing private sources.
Rodriguez has been under the scrutiny of the US Drug Enforcement Administration since at least 2018, but no charges have ever been filed. The US Department of Justice told AP that there is no ongoing investigation to halt, but sources confirm that the administration ordered the cessation of all possible probes to avoid destabilizing relations between Washington and Caracas.
"Everyone was told to stop this case," one source told AP.
